About us

Société de Gestion MR SA (SG MR SA) was founded in 2010 through a strategic partnership between Charles Mardini, Ygal Rabinovici, and Société Générale Private Banking (Switzerland) SA, a subsidiary of the Société Générale Group (France).

Société Générale initially acquired a 25% equity stake in SG MR, while the remaining 75% was retained by the founding partners via their joint holding entity, MR SA.

Since its foundation, SG MR SA has distinguished itself as a human and client-centric enterprise, underpinned by the deep, long-standing friendship between its co-founders, who have worked together since their early careers at Compagnie Bancaire Genève (CBG) over 25 years ago.

The 2010 inception of SG MR SA was driven by a clear vision: to create a financial services company characterized by its independence and an open architecture model. This strategic approach enables SG MR SA to collaborate with a diverse range of custodian banks and a carefully curated network of partners, selected based on specific criteria. This commitment to an open and independent structure allows SG MR SA to secure optimal partnerships while preserving its operational autonomy. For Société Générale, the initial investment in SG MR SA was aligned with the bank’s strategy to complement its robust institutional framework with a dynamic, independent, and human-scale entity, while reinforcing its relationship with the trusted leadership of Charles Mardini and Ygal Rabinovici.

Through this strategic alignment with Société Générale, SG MR SA has emerged as a distinctive player in the European wealth management landscape.

In less than 15 years, it has risen to prominence as a leading figure in the Swiss financial sector, setting a benchmark for excellence among wealth managers across Switzerland and Europe.

In a significant development on July 3, 2024, Société Générale divested its private banking subsidiary in Switzerland, along with its London-based counterpart SG Kleinwort Hambros, to Union Bancaire Privée (UBP SA) in a transaction valued at approximately 900 million euros. This agreement encompasses the full transfer of operations from SG Kleinwort Hambros and Société Générale Private Banking Switzerland to UBP.

It was following this decision that Mr. Charles Mardini and Mr. Ygal Rabinovici, founders, directors and shareholders of Société de Gestion M&R SA (SG M&R) bought back the 25% held since 2010 by Société Générale Private Banking (Suisse) SA.

thus becoming the sole shareholders of SG MR SA as of summer 2024.

Despite the change in shareholding, SG MR SA will continue to maintain collaborative ties with the Société Générale Group, independent of ownership links.
